Therefore go and make disciples of all nations (Mat 28:19)
4.1 The new Evangelisation is at the heart of our community mission. Just as the disciples were commissioned to “Go into the whole world and preach the gospel to the whole of creation” (Mark 16:15), we strive to serve reaching out and evangelising to our young adults whilst finding the right means to re-propose the perennial truth of the Gospel.
4.2 We follow Christ’s words to disciple Peter by the Sea of Galilee: “Feed my sheep.” Many of Christ’s sheep have been scattered or have lost the fold. We through love and reparation try to reach out and bring them home. As this mission for Peter ended with his martyrdom, we realise as St Augustine tells us “Tend my sheep, also means suffer for my sheep”.
4.3 The community has a particular charism towards Catholics that have been baptised but are no longer practicing their faith. As consumerism, individualism and entitlement grips our young people, many don’t see a need for Church in their lives. As humanity's criteria for determining values, judgement, models of life has changed, Christ offers an alternative way. We are called to be builders of peace and reconciliation, justice and of solidarity in society; thus building a kingdom of love through the Church.
4.4 We hope to bring the good news to all we come in contact with through love, whilst showing the young that they need the church just as much as the Church needs the young. Christ came ‘so that all may have life - and have it to the full’ (John 10:10). We believe that this fulfilment comes through the universal Church so we work in partnership with parishes and dioceses when able to do so.
4.5 Taking the example of Jesus and the early disciples, and learning from the mendicant and itinerant orders of the church, aspects of our community will embrace a transients model of living. The Community will not own property and much of the work will be on the road, enabling more of our time and energy to be expended on the proclamation of the good news.
